Born into a musical family, Tom's first guitar was a gift from his parents at the age of eight. Immediately Tom started collecting all the records he could find of his two guitarist idols, Chet Atkins and Les Paul, attempting to mimic their unique styles while developing his own. Taking advantage of his family's musical environment and coaching, he performed in high school during his teen years and instant popularity resulted when he teamed with his sister, Susan, billing themselves as the "Doyles".

The brother/sister team played "the circuit". Their big break came after a trophy-winning performance in a music contest at a Catskills resort in upstate New York. Gigs followed in established upscale nightclubs in the Fort Lee, New Jersey and New York. Other "in" venues quickly hired the up and coming duo.

Requests to play for dignitaries at the New Jersey Governor's mansion, and private parties given by socialites, many of which were attended by the Kennedy clan were typical. By the time Tom was 19 years old, he and Susan developed a Les Paul and Mary Ford act. It was so good it was brought to the attention of the original duo. When Les Paul paid them a surprise visit one night during a show, it was the start of a life-long friendship. As a result, Tom has been with Les Paul as his sound engineer for the past 35 years and has played gigs with him from time to time.

During this time, Tom Doyle received rave reviews of his performance at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society in Nashville. He then became a charter member of the Chet Atkins Society which hosts an annual one-week blast in Nashville in which noted guitarists and luthiers are invited to perform and exhibit their talents and products. Tom has been active in both capacities for close to 25 years.

Donning his luthier hat, Tom Doyle has crafted, customized, repaired or modified guitars for top guitarists including John "Bucky" Pizzarelli, George Benson, Sting, Al Caiola, Tony Mottola, Jimmy Page and Les Paul. He also plays on his own hand-made guitar, the Doyle Guitar, and manufactures low impedance pickups. In addition, Tom has found time to perform on local cable television and radio shows.

Susan has recorded with Capitol Records and both brother and sister have appeared together onstage throughout the New York/New Jersey/ Florida night club scenes. Susan's stage presence, beautiful voice and personality gives the audience a rare taste of talent.

The Doyles most recently appeared with Les Paul and his trio at the famed "Iridium Jazz Club" in New York City, in Naples at Johnny T's All American Restaurant and Night Club, The Collier Athletic Club, and Longshore Lake; and in Marco Island at The Marco Island Hilton, and the Marco Polo Restaurant.
